Mental Health America of Wabash County works for the mental health of everyone through public education, advocacy, referral, and public health reform. We are an affiliate of Mental Health America of Indiana and of National Mental Health America, the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to helping ALL people live mentally healthier lives.
MHA of Wabash County works at removing the stigma from receiving any help for mental health problems. There is a greater need to understand that accepting help is just like receiving help from a doctor for a physical problem. This stigma often keeps some people from getting the treatment they need. Also, the lack of steady employment or lack of health insurance for mental health issues can be a stumbling block to treatment.
You may have a family member or friend who deals with mental disease on a daily basis. If that is so, seek the help that is needed. Refer to the resources that are available on this web site or go to the Mental Health America of Indiana site.
Mental diseases, like diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure, are diagnosable and treatable, and with your help, we can spread the message that there is hope for people with mental illnesses, that everyone needs to learn how to maintain good mental health and to recognize the signs of a mental disease.
